Not With Wings

Here soar
Not with wings,
But with your moving hands and feet
And sweating brows –
Standing by your Beloved’s side
Reaching out to comfort this world
With your cup of solace
Drawn from your vast reservoir of Truth.
Here soar
Not with your eyes and senses
That turn their backs
On the earth’s sweet stumbling dance
Which needs you.
Here love, O here love,
With your mouth tender and open upon your lover,
And with your heart on duty
To the souls of rivers, children, forest animals,
All the shy feathered ones and laughing, jumping,
Shining fish.
O here, pilgrim,
Love
On this holy battleground of life
Where there are bleeding men
Who are calling for a sacred drink,
A gentle word or touch from man
or God.
Hafiz, why just serve and play with angels?
They are already content.
Brew your knowledge well for men
With aching minds and guts,
And for those wayfarers who have gained
The rare courageous thirsts
That can never be relinquished
Until Union!
Hafiz,
Leave your recipes in golden drums.
Tie those barrels to the backs of camels
Who will keep circumambulating the worlds,
Giving nourishment
To all our tender wondrous spheres.
O here love, O love right here.
Find your happiness, dear wayfarer,
With your beautiful lips and body
So sweetly opened,
Yielding their vital gifts upon
This magnificent
Earth.

The Substance You Taste

The Substance You Taste

The sky-wheel turns us into dawn
and fills creation again with color.

Let it be our weakness, this thirst-love
for the world, the sun coming up
like red-gold being poured!

The potter’s wheel moves,
and shapes change quickly.

Let the jar I am becoming
turn into a wine cup.
Fill me with your love
for being awake.

I’m no hypocrite renunciate.
Call me this delicious substance
you taste when you create new beauty.

Be strong, Hafiz!
Work here inside time,
where we fail, catch hold
again, and climb.

The Parable of Two Wolves

The Parable of Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson,
about a battle that goes on inside all people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves,
that dwell inside each and everyone us.

“One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good.
It is joy, peace, Love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute,
and then asked his grandfather:

“Which wolf will win ?”

The old Cherokee simply replied:
“The one you feed.”XX

Cloud-Hidden

Cloud-Hidden

This chapter is closed now,
not one word more
until we meet some day
and the voices rising
to the window
take wing and fly.

Open the old casement
to the lands we have forgotten,
look to the mountains and ridgeways
and the steep valleys, quilted by green,
here, as the last words fall away,
the great and silent rivers of life
are flowing into the oceans,
and on a day like any other
they will carry you again,
abandoned,
on the currents you have fought,
to the place where you did not know
you belonged.

And just as you came into life
surprised
you go out again,
lifted,
cloud-hidden
from one unknown
to another
and fall and turn
and appear again in the mountains

not remembering
how in the beginning
you refused
to join,
could not speak of,
did not even know
you were that
deep
calm
welling
almost forgotten
spring
of eternal presence.

What I Don’t Know

What I Don’t Know

The Size of This Universe
represents
what I don’t know Beloved!

Hard to Believe
that truth
was the one that
opened me up to
the wonder of a child.

Better yet a blown away adult
to appreciate the punch line
of that eternal joke.

A cool breeze it
was across the perspiring face
of the human knot
I’ve been.

A tight mind
wrapped around my
knowledge, learning,
thinking, viewpoints,
and preferences
like an overprotective mother
or
better yet
a jealous lover.

Prying,
poking,
irritating,
judging,
wrestling,
arguing,
defending,
tumbling down the hill
like two boys
testing their manhood
in our neighborhood show down.

me vs. you
me vs. me

my knowledge
vs.
your exquisite
ever changing
textures
of nowness.

You had to prove it
to me.

Finally a crack opens,
your light enters
my mind realizes
the lies I have believed
even worse those
I’ve told myself.

To find
the ecstasy,
the sensual,
and
the daily ordinariness
of 1001 openings
that live in the texture
of sight,
touch,
taste,
smell,
sound,
all beyond what
I can store in
this mind
and infinitely
more real.

The Road

The Road
Here is the road: the light
comes and goes then returns again.
Be gentle with your fellow travelers
as they move through the world of stone and stars
whirling with you yet every one alone.
The road waits.
Do not ask questions but when it invites you
to dance at daybreak, say yes.
Each step is the journey; a single note the song.

Dante’s Prayer

Dear Beloved,

We have such a short breath of life is this world.
So little time, really so little time.
It seems so sad how we often squander it,
as if it were in limitless supply.
And so often we leave things unsaid,
that should be spoken outright.

In this season of thanksgiving,  I wanted you to know that
I appreciate You, and I am eternally thankful for You.
We all are touch deprived and even more so, are we Love deprived.

I wanted You to know how important You are to me,
and how I find You and so very few others
are so very special and so few and far between.
It is such a rarity and scarcity to find those who truly choose to Love.

Loreena McKennitt says this in song, so very well…

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We’ll rise above these earthly cares

May you find abundant Love and endless blessings on your journey,
Always,
Taylor

Dante’s Prayer

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and the fire

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We’ll rise above these earthly cares

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me…

In The Stillness

In The Stillness

In the stillness,
of eternal quietness,
I lose my ponderance,
For the end of things,
For that common goal.

As I seek to not think,
I find the world screams,
to awaken me.

Yet when I am in the stillness,
And absorbed by merely being,
I find no thought,
I hear no sound.

I see no difference,
Between self and other.
No I and that.
No me and them.

Perhaps the journey,
To find the ultimate goal,
is really no goal at all.

Perhaps goal orientation,
is something from this reality,
that has no place,
in the ultimate Reality.

It is likely,
that this is true.
For goal orientation,
is a relative perception,
from one thing to another.

So when one is in harmony,
With all that lives and breathes,
one does not view themselves,
as separate and distinct,
from another thing.

When one is truly,
a part of the intricate web,
of the divine reality,
one would not see themselves,
as separate from that,
and isn’t that,
The purest form of Love ?

Five A.M. in the Pinewoods

Five A.M. in the Pinewoods

I’d seen
their hoofprints in the deep
needles and knew
they ended the long night
under the pines, walking
like two mute
and beautiful women toward
the deeper woods, so I
got up in the dark and
went there. They came
slowly down the hill
and looked at me sitting under
the blue trees, shyly
they stepped
closer and stared
from under their thick lashes and even
nibbled some damp
tassels of weeds. This
is not a poem about a dream,
though it could be.
This is a poem about the world
that is ours, or could be.

Finally
one of them — I swear it
would have come to my arms.
But the other
stamped sharp hoof in the
pine needles like

the tap of sanity,
and they went off together through
the trees. When I woke
I was alone,
I was thinking:
so this is how you swim inward,
so this is how you flow outward,
so this is how you pray.

Love Song

=========================================

This offering is somewhat different (in an effort to not get in a rut) while at the same time
trying to bring forward diverse ways of delivering the messages of Love.

Hopefully some of these various items make us think, bring is closer together, and give
us hope in the eternal harmony of Love.

This is a Love song with something for everyone. 🙂

Love is all around you,
Love is knocking outside your door…

Love Song

So you think that it’s over, say your love has finally reached the end
Any time you call, night or day, I’ll be right there for you
If you need a friend

It’s gonna take a little time, I know, time is sure to mend your broken heart
But don’t you even worry, pretty darlin ‘cos I know you’ll find love again

Love is all around you, love is knockin’ outside your door
Waitin’ for you is this love made just for two
Keep an open heart and you’ll find love again, I know

Love is all around you, yeah yeah, love is knockin’ outside your door
Waitin’ for you is this love made just for two
Keep an open heart and you’ll find love again, I know

[Solo]

It’s all around
It’s all around

Love will find a way – darlin’, love is gonna find a way
Find its way back to you
Love will find a way – so look around, open your eyes
Love is gonna find a way – love is gonna, love is gonna
Love is gonna, love is gonna find a way, yeah
Love will find a way – love is gonna find a way back to you, yeah yeah yeah

[Solo]

Love will find a way –
darlin’, love is gonna find a way
Find its way back to you
Love will find a way –
oh just look around,
Open up your eyes
Love is gonna find a way –
love is gonna,
Love is gonna, love is gonna find a way, yeah

Love will find a way –
love is gonna find a way back to you, yeah,

I know…
I know…
I know…
